Frequently asked questions

Is real money involved?

Not yet. Qudi is on testnet, so balances use test USDC and vaults earn from simulated venues. Before mainnet, every contract that moves money gets an external security review, and counsel reviews Qudi in its launch markets.

What is Qudi?

Qudi is an onchain money app built around communities. Anyone can start a community or join one by invite, and host one while being a member of others. Inside a community you can save for yourself, save together and vote on payouts, claim shareouts, take part in campaigns and draw credit at 0% interest. Outside every community, your Qudi Account holds your everyday money.

What does Qudi cost?

Every transaction that moves money shows two fees: a transaction fee, which goes to Qudi, and a network fee, which goes to the chain. A transaction that moves no money, such as a vote, pays the network fee only. You see both fees before you confirm. Joining a community costs its seat price, which the host sets between free and $100. Credit is 0% interest at every stage.

Does Qudi have a token?

No. There is no Qudi token and no token sale.

Do I need a wallet or a seed phrase?

No. Your Qudi Account is created with a passkey on your device, and every action that signs asks for that passkey. You don't need a seed phrase or a browser extension.

What happens if I lose my passkey?

If your passkey is synced to another device, you carry on from there with the same account. If it's gone for good, the account can't be recovered: Qudi has no reset, support recovery or identity check. You can create a new account, and it starts from zero.

Who can see my balance?

In the app, only you see your Qudi Account and your personal vaults. A host can't see or move them. Transactions on the chain are public, as they are for every onchain app.

How do I join a community?

With an invite from its host, as a link or a QR code. You confirm you're old enough where you live to agree to the terms, and you pay the seat price. Seat fees aren't refunded. Some regions can't take a seat, and the app tells you before you start.

Where does a seat fee go?

40% goes to your community's credit account, which funds credit for its members. 30% goes to the host, and 30% goes to Qudi.

What does a free seat mean for a host?

A free seat pays the host nothing and adds nothing to the community's credit account. Everything else works the same. Credit in that community can still open, through what its members save there.

How is a community's icon made?

From the first letters of its name, on a colour picked for that community. You can't upload a picture yet.

Why does a new community start with no vaults?

Every community comes with credit. Vaults are added after it's created: any member can create personal vaults for their own goals, and the host creates shared vaults.

Can I leave a community?

Yes, at any time, even while you owe on an advance, which you still settle from Home. Your personal vaults are unaffected. Money you deposited into a shared vault stays there, and you still get your share if it closes. Seat fees aren't refunded. To come back you need a new invite and a new seat, and your record there starts again.

How does closing a community work?

The host proposes it, and members vote over 7 days. It needs at least 20% of members who can vote to take part, at least 3 votes, and two thirds of them to say yes. Once it passes, nothing new comes in: no joining, no new vaults or shareouts, no deposits and no new credit. Everything already running carries on: withdrawals, locked dates, payouts, claims and settling. Nothing is deleted, and your money is never swept.

How do vaults earn?

A vault earns at the venue it uses, so what it earns is variable. Most of it is yours, and Qudi's share funds credit for your community. If a venue loses money, everyone in that vault shares the loss after Qudi's reserve is used.

Can I always withdraw?

From an open vault, yes, whenever you like. A locked vault has no way out before its date, and neither does a Term vault before its term ends. If a venue is slow to pay out, your withdrawal waits in line until it does. Qudi never holds your money back because you owe.

What happens to my deposit into a shared vault?

It becomes part of the vault's shared balance, so you can't withdraw it on your own. Money leaves through payouts that members who deposited vote on. When the vault closes, each person who deposited gets a share of what's left, in proportion to what they put in.

How does credit open in a community?

A community's credit opens once it has been running for a while, enough of its members have a record there, and members are saving there. Your own first draw also needs your seat to be at least 14 days old. The credit page shows what still needs to happen.

What happens if I settle late?

You have 60 days to settle, then 5 days of grace. If you settle after the grace days, the late payment is recorded on your account. Your draws are smaller in every community you belong to until it heals, 90 days of good standing after you settle.

What happens if an advance reaches default?

Default starts at the start of day 156 after you drew. It's recorded on your account, your credit closes in every community, and what built your record before it no longer counts toward credit. Qudi never takes money you hold or would receive, and never uses courts or credit bureaus. You can still settle after default.

How are campaigns scored?

Qudi runs campaigns and scores the communities in them on how many members take part, how many complete what the campaign asks, how consistently they keep it up and how timely they are, measured against each community's size. Scores never rank how much money is deposited, and the board shows only each community's name, icon and place.

How do I allow the camera again?

Scanning a QR code needs your browser's camera permission for app.qudi.fi. In Chrome, tap the icon to the left of the address, open the site's permissions and set Camera to Allow. In Safari on iPhone or iPad, tap the page menu in the address bar, open Website Settings and set Camera to Allow. In Safari on a Mac, open Safari Settings, then Websites, then Camera. In Firefox, tap the lock icon and clear the blocked camera permission. If your browser looks different, open its site settings for app.qudi.fi and allow the camera. Then reload and scan again. You can always open the invite link instead.
